Our Regiment "The Rifles"
are now one year old, Feb.2008. When it was
announced a new Regiment was to be formed
"The Rifles" like many others I
had reservations, would it work!!
I am a very simple man who
served over 36 years and survived my Regiments
being disbanded! amalgamated! or going into
suspended animation! four times on various
date's from 1955 to 1968.
However my pride of serving
all those years as an Infantry soldier, I
accepted the winds of change, had again blown.
Not to accept change is foolish, especially
when change brings out the best of all things
good.
All the Regiments who amalgamated to form
"The Rifles" had long histories
of gallant service and pride in their traditions, and
rightly so.
"The Rifles" in
their first year have proved our old traditions
are in excellent hands, their performance,
determination, true grit, and professonalism
in Iraq, Afghanistan, have filled me with
pride. They truly are Blood of our Blood.
All who I speak too, say and feel the same
as myself, our Rifles are second to none.
We are so proud of them. I
have one regret "I'm too old to enlist,
and serve in our Rifles" I'd do it today.
Reason it's our/my Regiment."The Rifles".
Long may those Silver Bugles Blow! go forward
swift and bold! You are now creating your
own history.
God bless you all.

The Light Infantry Regimental
Associations in the Counties Need You!
The Light Infantry has earned
a reputation second to none since its formation
in 1968. As a new era dawns with the formation
of The Rifles on 7th February 2007 it will be
more important than ever to preserve the memory
and heritage of The Light Infantry and its former
Regiments.
You can help to do this by supporting Association
events in the Counties and by joining your local
Branch. A list of branches is contained at the
back of The Silver Bugle, the next edition will
be the last, so ensure your order now, demand
is sure to be high.
