The British Cyprus Memorial 2009

Lest we forget

To mark the 50th anniversary of the ending of the four-year conflict which preceded the independence of Cyprus in 1960, the British Cyprus Memorial Trust has been established to honour the memory of the 372 British servicemen who died during the course of that conflict with both a Roll of Honour Memorial Book and a permanent memorial bearing their names. Of the 372 dead, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines lost 28, the RAF 70 and the Army 274. The target date for completion of the double memorial is April 2009.

Your support in this undertaking would be very much appreciated. Registering your support is very easy: you can do it now. Simply click on one of the links below to register with one of the three associations that make up the British Cyprus Memorial Trust. There is no charge for this, but should you wish to you will be able to donate to the Trust after you have successfully registered. Thank you.

What you can do to help

The Light Infantry Regimental Associations in the Counties Need You!

The Light Infantry has earned a reputation second to none since its formation in 1968. As a new era dawns with the formation of The Rifles on 7th February 2007 it will be more important than ever to preserve the memory and heritage of The Light Infantry and its former Regiments.

You can help to do this by supporting Association events in the Counties and by joining your local Branch. A list of branches is contained at the back of The Silver Bugle, the next edition will be the last, so ensure your order now, demand is sure to be high.
