Fred Cole 1914

This page has a unique collection of pictures which relate to

Private Frederick Sidney Cole 9800

in Prisoner of War Camp Friederichsfeld in Germany

plus other images of that period

Fred Cole 1955

His Grandson Roger J. Halfhide has donated this large collection of images to this website, he writes:

Roger J. Halfhide writes

The main Prisoner of War Camp was Friederichsfeld in Germany, I could find very little about it on the web. The other one was Wessel which I think was in Latvia. They do look reasonably well looked after but this was the First World War and things were more gentlemanly.

The pictures are of very good quality although most have not been named. My Grandfather was Private Frederick Sidney Cole 9800. I have a Post Card sent to him from The Red Cross whilst he was a Prisoner of War at Friederichsfeld in Germany. It is addressed to "Pte F.S.Cole 9800 Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, Coy 2 No. 487 E.K.I.
