Message : Excellent website. Thank you. Sergeant John Tucker served in the 53rd Regiment of Foot for at least 25 years. Records at the National Archives in Canada showed that he died from an infectuous disease (typhus?)in Canada, 1782, shortly after returning from a posting overseas. We have a lot of information as to what happened to his widow and children, but nothing concrete on him, except that we still have his sword and shoe buckles (family treasures!) and the comment about his death. How can I go about finding more about him previous to his death, without having to hire a costly researcher? Best regards and thank you for your interest. Michel Robert

Message : Looking for info concerning which British Regiment(s)were stationed at Ft.George(?)or Ft. Niagara(?), Upper Canada during 1838-39 Rebellion. May have been in Halifax, NS Jan. 1836 where a child was born. My next record is another child b. 1840, Ft. Niagara. I suspect the 85th Reg of Foot as the soldier's father served with the 85th in France and was killed at Bayone (1814)per Greig's account. Thank You.
