Message : Here I am on these pages yet again. It's always nice to read the messages and especially nice to know that the old soldiers are still being remembered all over the world. As usual I am renewing my offer to lay flowers and take photos of a headstone for anyone wishing to pay respects to a lost loved one, friend, comrade or relative who is buried in the Kleve area. We shall be attending the memorial service in November so please let me know before then giving Cemetery, name and where possible grave number, if you would like us to perform this little gesture of respect for those who gave their lives for us all. I know that in spite of all the organised visits that have taken place this year, there will be some of you who for one reason or another, just couldn't take part. Susan Burns

Message : My father, a Yorkshireman, served with the 179 Field Rgmt. as a signalman during WW2. He says little about his war experiences —a fragment here and there —references to a quad, limber and 25 pounder blown up in front of him —the best officers being killed —how Caen was all brick dust —and once in the 1980's at war cemetery in Normandy he wept when he read the names of some men from the 43rd Div. I very much want to learn about the history of the 179 Field Regiment. Please, if anyone has the story or can point me where to look I'd be very grateful to hear from them. Thank you for the opportunity to post this message.
