Message : IMPORTANT TO OLD SOLDIERS! “LAWRENCE OF ARABIA” As you all know, the Somerset & Cornwall Light Infantry provided the “Officers” seen in the 1962 David Lean film “Lawrence of Arabia” – lately voted “the best film ever made”. The actual soldiers, who were Spanish and Moroccan, were trained by WO2 (now Major) Gordon Besford. There is only ONE 35mm copy of the film left in the world, and the owners of the Wellesley Cinema in Wellington, Somerset, have got hold of it!!! They are showing the film for three days only, on Monday 17th May until Wednesday 19th May 2004. It starts at 1915hrs and will end at about 2300hrs on each of the three days. My step-son, who is a Projectionist at the cinema, tells me that this will probably be the LAST TIME this 35mm film is ever shown. If you can make it, especially if you were actually in the film, you just HAVE to go and see it. It will be your last chance. You can contact the cinema thus: Telephone 01823 66 66 68 or by e-mail at: wellesleycinema@aol.com If you can come, please introduce yourself to me. Peter Vile
