As a former member of the Royal Army Pay Corps, I served at the erstwhile SLI's 'Jellalbad Barracks' in Taunton. I would like to know more about the barracks and would love to obtain some photos of the barracks from my time there or other era for that matter!

My father, Major Glandon "GG" Thomas RAMC, served as the Medical Officer of 1 SLI during the Malaya Emergency, and was awarded a Mention in Despatches. Anyone remember him? Alas he died a few years ago.

"Gidday" from an "Old DCLI Digger"

An example of cross threading this Guestbook in reply to (Cpl) Bob Greenwell's post on January 4th 2006. I've sent Bob the URL of the latest 'tool' for searching for old mates who - hopefully are still living and willing to get in touch again after (presumably) some 54 years.

In a similar way to Bob, this writer is following the same path for mates of the 1953/1957 era, and to aid that exercise I have published the "British Army Most Wanted" facility for anyone to post their details, including photographs.

Take a moment to browse the fledgling site to get an idea as to how it might - in turn - help YOU!

You never know who might turn up out of the blue, Blue! So GOYA cheps and shake out those old pictures, they can be fixed as good as new.

Carpe Diem!

I am trying to trace anyone who may have served with or remembers my grandfather Edwin (Ted) George Hann from Wells who served in the Somerset Light Infantry during WW2. He enlisted in the territorials before the war and was in the 6th battalian. he was batman for L/C W.R. Ellis until 1943. In August 1940 was assigned to the duty of driving/maintaining the steam locomotive (Hythe, Romney & Dymchurch Railway). He took part in the planning of the North African and Scicilian landings and went on to serve in the R.A.S.C. in Italy (Naples/Rome) where he finished the war with rank of Sergeant. If anyone has any recolections of him or anything above could they please get in touch.
