Chapel

The Memorial Chapel in Durham Cathedral was opened in 1923, and contains Books of Remembrance in which are inscribed the naems of those who fell in both World Wars. The old Colours of the Reigment have up to date been laid in this Chapel. A Garden of Remembrance was opened in the precincts of the Cathedral in 1950 in memory of those who gave their lives in the 1939-45 War.

Collect

ALMIGHTY GOD, WHO REQUIREST THAT THY SERVANTS BE FOUND FAITHIFUL, GRANT, WE PRAY THEE, THAT WE, THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY, WHO TWICE A YEAR REMEMBER THE GREAT VALOUR OF THOSE WHO WENT BEFORE US, MAY EVER BE READY AS THEY TO FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT, AND ABOVE ALL THINGS TO GIVE OBEDIENCE TO THY CALL, THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.
