Pte. Marcel Leveel No. 1559 by Patrick Hubert

LEVEEL.jpg (127998 bytes) My grandfather whose name was Marcel LEVEEL was born in Guernsey in 1898 and fought with the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry during W.W.1. His service details are as follows:

Enlisted at Guernsey....................................17.05.1917
Transferred to class "Z" Army reserve.............20.03.1919
Discharged on demobilisation........................31.03.1920

Served with the B.E.F in France from 24.10.1917 to 20.04.1918 (179 days)
Medals awarded: British War and Victory Medals.
Military conduct: very good
N° 1559 Private LEVEEL Marcel.
Marcel died May 29, 1989.

Soldiers were sent from the 2nd (Reserve) Battalion in Guernsey to the 1st (Service) Battalion in France when reinforcements were needed. Marcel was sent in Reinforcement 1. Embarked 24 October 1917, disembarked 25, October, joined Base Depot 27 October. He was invalided to England, wounded, on 20.04.18.
